Enabling Double Opt-in

The Double Opt-in feature helps you ensure that only genuine and verified subscribers receive your emails.

When enabled, Whautomail automatically sends a confirmation email to new contacts with a Pending status - asking them to verify their email before they start receiving campaigns or automation emails.

Follow these steps to enable Double Opt-in:

1. Go to Automations

  • Open the Whautomail app
  • From the left menu, select the Automations option to continue

2. Add New Automation

  • Click the + Add Automation button to create a new automation rule

3. Find the Double Opt-in Template

  • In the search bar, type Double Opt-in (or scroll to find it manually)
  • Select the "Request Double Opt-in" automation rule from the list

4. Install the Automation

  • Click the Install Automation button to add it to your workspace

5. Review the Automation Setup

Open the installed automation, and you'll see the pre-configured setup:

Trigger: When a new contact is created

Condition: Contact Status equals Pending

Action 1: Send Email

  • Whautomail includes a default subscription confirmation email
  • You can edit this template or replace it with your own

Important: If you are editing or changing the default email template, make sure to include this confirmation link — it's used to verify the contact's subscription:

You can insert this link directly or use it in a button such as "Confirm Subscription".

Action 2: Add Contact Tag

  • Adds the contact tag "Opt-In Requested" for easy tracking

That's it!

Once this automation is active, every time a new contact is created with a Pending status, Whautomail will automatically send them a confirmation email. After they verify their email through the confirmation link, their status will change to Subscribed, and they'll start receiving your campaigns and automations.
