Email Sequences in WhautoMail allow you to automate a series of emails that send over time. These sequences help you nurture leads, onboard new customers, and stay connected with your audienceβall without manual follow-up.
How to Set Up an Email Sequence in WhautoMailβ
Creating an email sequence involves setting up multiple automation rules that work together. Each rule represents one step or one "day" of the sequence.
Step 1: Create Your First Drip Campaign Rule (Day 1)β
- Open the WhautoMail app, go to the Automations section, and click + Add Automation
- Select Create Automation From Scratch
- Enter an Automation Name
Example: Email Sequence β Day 1 - Set the Trigger to:
- When a Contact is Created
(Optional) Add a Conditionβ
- Click Add Condition
- Example: Tag is "New Lead"
This ensures only specific contacts enter the sequence. You may skip this step if not required.
Add Actionsβ
Send Emailβ
- Click Add Action β Send Email
- Enter the email Subject, Preheader, and From Email Sender
- Create your Day 1 email using either:
- Drag & Drop Editor
- Simple Editor
Note: You can also choose from predefined templates available inside the Drag & Drop Editor.
Add Contact Tagβ
- Click Add Another Action β Add Contact Tag
- Add a tag such as
Follow up
This tag tells the next step in the sequence to begin.
Add Wait Timeβ

Click Add Wait Time

Set it to 1 Day
After 1 day, the system will activate the next automation rule. -
Click Save Rule to finish Step 1
Step 2: Create the Second Email Sequence Rule (Day 2)β
- Click + Add Automation again
- Select Create Automation From Scratch
- Enter an Automation Name
Example: Email Sequence β Day 2 - Set the Trigger to:
- When a Contact is Added to a Tag

- Field: Newly Added Contact Tags
- Operator: Includes any
- Tag:
Follow up
Second Condition (to exclude unsubscribed contacts)β
- Field: Existing Contact Tags
- Operator: Does not include all

- Click Add Action β Send Email
- Enter email Subject, Preheader, and From Email Sender
- Create your Day 2 email using the Drag & Drop Editor or Simple Editor

- Add a new tag, such as
Follow up 2
This tag triggers Day 3 or the next step.
Add Wait Timeβ
- Click Add Wait Time
- Set to 2 Days
This sets the delay before the next part of the sequence begins.
Remove Previous Tagβ

Click Add Action β Remove Contact Tag

This keeps your tagging clean and ensures the sequence stays in order. -
Click Save Rule
Repeat this process for Day 3, Day 4, and so on, creating one automation rule per email in your sequence.

Use Tags to Chain Sequences
Use unique tags such asFollow up 1,Follow up 2, etc., to keep your sequence organized. -
Respect Unsubscribers
Install the Marketing Opt-Out Automation to ensure contacts who unsubscribe stop receiving emails. -
Test Before Launching
Create a test contact and run the sequence once to confirm timing, tagging, and email content work correctly.
