Suppression Lists

WhautoMail's Suppression List helps you maintain healthy email lists and stay compliant with email marketing regulations. Suppressed emails are automatically excluded from all future campaigns and automation emails.

What Are Suppression Lists?

A suppression list contains email addresses that should not receive emails. These include:

  • Bounces – Emails that could not be delivered
  • Unsubscribers – Contacts who opted out
  • Complaints – Contacts who marked your email as spam

â„šī¸ Note: WhautoMail automatically handles bounce and complaint suppressions to protect your sender reputation.

How to View and Manage Suppressions

1. Access Suppression Lists

  1. Log in to the WhautoMail app
  2. Go to the Audience menu on the left sidebar
  3. Click Suppressions

2. Understanding the Suppression Dashboard

You will see three tabs:

  • Bounces - View emails that couldn't be delivered
  • Unsubscribers - Manage contacts who opted out
  • Complaints - See who marked your emails as spam

Exporting Suppression Records

WhautoMail allows you to export all suppression entries for your records or for use in other systems.

Steps to Export:

  1. Click the Export button at the top of the suppression list
  2. The system will generate and download a CSV file with all suppression records

âš ī¸ Note: Exports are limited to once per week.

Importing Suppression Lists

You can import your existing suppression records from another email platform to maintain consistency across your marketing tools.

Steps to Import:

  1. Click Import Suppressions
  2. Download the sample import file
  3. Add your email suppression data following the format
  4. Upload the file back into WhautoMail

Important Notes:

  • You can only upload Unsubscriber lists
  • Bounce and complaint suppressions cannot be uploaded as WhautoMail manages them automatically

Best Practices

  • Regularly update your suppression lists to maintain deliverability
  • Import unsubscribes when migrating from other platforms
  • Respect suppression - never manually remove or override suppressed contacts
  • Monitor your suppression rate to maintain good sender reputation

Troubleshooting

  • Import failed?

    • Check the file format (must be CSV)
    • Ensure the email column is properly formatted
  • Export not working?

    • Check if you've already exported this week
    • Ensure you have the necessary permissions
    • Try refreshing the page
